Moderate quake hits northern Japan

TOKYO -- A moderate quake with a magnitude of 5.0 jolted northern Japan, said the Japan Meteorological Agency Tuesday.

The focus of the quake, which occurred at 9:13 p.m. local time (0013 GMT), was some 50 km under the sea off Fukushima Prefecture, the agency said.

There were no immediate reports of casualties or damage to properties. And no Tsunami warning was issued.
