ROME  - Venice has launched a website it says will soon allow tourists to book everything from gondolas to weddings online.

File photo shows pedestrians wade through flood waters, past a gondola, in Venice December 1, 2008. Large parts of Venice were flooded  as heavy rains and strong winds lashed the lagoon city, with sea levels at their highest level in 22 years.

The site, www.veniceconnected.it, currently allows visitors to reserve museum passes, excursions, airport shuttles and parking passes -- with the opportunity to book a civil marriage the next service to come on-stream.

Nearly 20 million tourists, 80 percent of whom were foreigners, visited Venice in 2008, according to city authorities.
