KUALA LUMPUR -- A school-bus plunged into a river Monday morning in northwestern Malaysia's Penang State and the driver was killed.

Some of the 23 primary school students aboard the bus suffered minor injuries and were sent to hospital for outpatient treatment.

The driver, identified as Koe Joon Huat, in his late 40s, reportedly had lost control of the bus after swerving to avoid a car in his lane near a mosque in George Town, capital of the Penang State.
