KABUL -- Afghan National Army (ANA) supported by the US-led Coalition forces have captured Mullah Dahoud, the machinator behind the suicide bombing in 2007 which killed over 50 civilians in northern Afghan province of Baghlan, said a Coalition statement released here on Wednesday.

The combined forces early Tuesday morning conducted a raid on a suspected IED (Improvised Explosive Device) cell where reportedly is Dahoud's home and a transit point for insurgent fighters in Pol- e-Kohmri district of Baglan province, the statement said.

"During the search, ANA detained Mullah Dahoud with no resistance," it said, adding "no shots were fired and no ANA, Coalition or civilian casualties were sustained during the operation."

Mullah Dahoud and his insurgent fighters were reportedly responsible for the attack on sugar factory in Baghlan province that killed five Afghan parliament members and over 50 civilians in 2007.

The innocent people affected by this criminal net can now have justice," said Gen. Mohammad Zahir Azimi, Chief spokesperson for the Afghanistan Ministry of Defense.

Spiraling conflicts and Taliban-linked insurgency have claimed more than 5,000 people's live, mostly militants, so far this year in the country.
