Japanese climber dies in New Zealand

WELLINGTON -- One of the two Japanese climbers stranded on Mount Cook in New Zealand's South Island has died, police confirmed on Friday.

Police said the body of Kiyoshi Ikenouchi, who was a mountain guide, has been discovered.

The other Japanese climber Hideaki Nara was rescued early Friday morning.

Both men are from Tokyo.
