Five injured in explosion in Istanbul

ANKARA -- At least five people were injured outside an office of Turkey's ruling Justice & Development Party (AKP) in its biggest city of Istanbul on Monday, the Dogan news agency report.

The explosion occurred at the entrance of Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan's AKP branch in downtown Sisli district, said the report without further details.

The cause of the explosion is not immediately available.

Also on Monday, three people were killed and ten others were injured in a gas explosion in a municipality building in Alikahya town in northwestern province of Izmit, some 100 kilometers east of Istanbul.
