Top DPRK leader inspects air force unit

PYONGYANG -- Kim Jong-il, the top leader of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), made an inspection on an air force unit, the official KCNA news said on Sunday.

During the inspection, Jim looked round halls for flight training and watched airmen under training of the Air Force Unit 1016 of the Korean People's Army, said the KCNA, without specifying where and when the inspection was made.

He called on boosting the combat capability of the unit in every way, the news agency said.

Jim also emphasized that the soldiers should pay attention to their dresses and appearance, for "the appearance of soldiers is one of the important criteria proving the dignity, spirit and discipline of a regular army," it added.
