Ballons to be floated

The annual balloon inflation is underway for tomorrow's Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade in the Upper West Side.

Buzz Lightyear, Horton the Elephant, and a Smurf are all making their debuts.

The pre-parade event has grown over the years. Large crowds are expected around the American Museum of Natural History.

As a result, some of the nearby streets will be closed until tomorrow.

Starting at 10 a.m., 81st Street and 77th Street will be closed from Central Park West to Columbus Avenue – and will remain closed.

After 10 p.m., Central Park West will be closed from 59th Street to 86th Street.

The inflation continues until 10 tonight, with balloons set up on both sides of the museum.

Starting at 9 a.m. is the 82nd annual Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade. It kicks off at Central Park West and 77th, goes south along the park from there to Columbus Circle, then follows Broadway to Macy's on 34th Street.
