Earthquake hits Sea of Okhotsk

BEIJING - An earthquake measuring 7.2 on the Richter scale hit the Sea of Okhotsk, part of the western Pacific Ocean, at 5:02 p.m. Monday, the China Seismological Network reported.

The epicenter was located at 54.2 degrees north latitude and 154.3 degrees east longitude off shore.

The Sea of Okhotsk sits at the far eastern coast of Russia, with the Kamchatka Peninsula on its east.
