A security official said 10 of their officers were among those injured in the blasts.

The official spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to speak to the press.

Monday's explosions caused extensive damage to shops lining Tahariyat square in Baghdad's predominantly Shiite east half of the city, known as Rusafa.
