Dollar falls to upper 92 yen level late Monday

TOKYO -- The US dollar fell to the upper 92 yen level late Monday in Tokyo as a nosedive in Japan's key Nikkei index by more than 6 percent to a 26-year-low prompted selling.

At 5:00 pm, the dollar fetched 92.95-98 yen against 94.25-35 yen in New York and 95.14-17 yen in Tokyo at 5:00 pm Friday. It moved between 91.88 yen and 94.50 yen during the day, changing hands most frequently at 94.00 yen.

The euro traded at 1.2441-2443 dollars and 115.65-69 yen, versus 1.2620-2630 dollars and 118.98-119.08 yen in New York and 1. 2665-2668 dollars and 120.52-56 yen in Tokyo late Friday.
