PYONGYANG -- The official Rodong Sinmun daily of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) Thursday warned against a possible freeze of the inter-Korean relations.

South Korea's Lee Myung Bak administration, which approached an anti-DPRK policy to flatter the United States, was responsible for the tension between the two Koreas, it said in a commentary.

"If the group of traitors keeps to the road of reckless confrontation with the DPRK, defaming its dignity despite its repeated warnings, this will compel it to make a crucial decision including the total freeze of the north-south relations," the article said.

Relations between the two Koreas have soured since the new conservative South Korean government was inaugurated in February which vowed to take a tougher line on Pyongyang.

The DPRK threatened to stop all contact with South Korea in April.

Government contacts between the two Koreas have been suspended following Lee's inauguration, but non-governmental exchanges continued.
