Updated: 2008-10-04 10:18 LINCOLN, Rhode Island _ A car crashed through an entrance at a high school in Rhode Island and burst into flames, killing the driver, police and witnesses said. No students were hurt.
School secretary Carmel Mendoza told reporters that the driver was a teacher's aide at Lincoln High School. Police and school officials would not identify the victim, citing the investigation. An autopsy will be conducted Saturday. Students had been dismissed about an hour before the crash, Superintendent Georgia Fortunado said. Mendoza said she and another employee tried to pull the man from the burning car after it crashed. She told WJAR-TV that the aide looked distraught when she saw him leaving the building minutes before the incident. |
