Updated: 2008-09-27 09:45 HAVANA -- Cuba and Brazil on Friday signed three cooperation agreements on mining geology, water resources and commercial bank. During the meeting held here since Tuesday, the representative of the Brazilian Agency of Cooperation, Andreia Rigueira, said the agreements will be carried out soon. "The new agreements will give more possibilities for the application of the geo-statistics in the mining exploration in Cuba," Rigueira said during the Seventh Meeting of the Technical Cooperation Work Group. "The agreements will also enhance the technical exchange on the management of water resources," Rigueira said. Rigueira said the agreements will help "train directors and experts from the banks and other financial institutions." In January 2008, Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva visited Cuba and signed 10 cooperation agreements on agriculture, energy and pharmacy. Since 2007, Brazil has become the second largest commercial partner of Cuba in Latin America following Venezuela. |
