BANGKOK -- A total of 123,407 people in flood-hit areas have sought treatment for flood-related diseases during the past 10 days, local news network The Nation reported on Sunday.

Prat Boonyawongwiroj, the permanent secretary for Public Health Ministry, was quoted as saying that the people sought help from 773 public health mobile units deployed to treat people in flood- hit areas.

On Saturday alone, 69,461 people received treatment from the units, he said.

Forty-one percent of the 123,407 people suffered from athlete's foot, 32 percent from cold and 11 percent from rashes.

A total of 36 provinces of Thailand, most in the north and northeast, are now struggling with flood response measures, as heavy flooding has claimed 14 lives.

Also on Sunday, the Meteorological Department warned residents of Phechabun, Lop Buri, Surin and Prachin Buri provinces to be on alert as the main rivers could burst their banks Sunday or Monday.
