Couple remarry, 30 years on
(Agencies)
Updated: 2008-09-16 10:28 Virginia Hart was 21 when she walked down the aisle with her husband, Mark, 22, in 1983. The couple had two daughters but then split up when the girls were still very young. They lost touch with each other and then went on to find new partners. However, both were divorced for a second time when the detective work of their daughters, Sarah, now 24, and Clare, 23, brought them back together. The couple rekindled the spark that had brought them together in the first place, and as they talked she told him of the five grandchildren he had never met. "This time it's for keeps," said Mr Hart, now 47. "We are both older and more mature, but Virginia is still the same in both looks and personality. "I don't think she has changed at all and it has been lovely catching up. We got to know each other, and understand each other, very quickly indeed". His first and third wife thought he looked similar too – apart from the fact that in middle age he had less hair. "It was quite weird really," she said. "We had never spoken in a bad way about each other and nothing went away really. "I just thought that we would never meet again and that was it. Then I saw him and he was just the same. He was really nice, as he was all those years ago". Mrs Hart, 46, said both were "young and silly" when they first got married. She suspected they might have stayed together "if someone had banged our heads together". The couple were brought back together by a remarkable coincidence. Sarah knew that her grandfather, Ron Hart, had once run the New Inn at Sandycroft, Deesside, and she rang it on the night her father happened to call in after a relative's graduation ceremony. "I hadn't set foot inside that pub for years," said Mr Hart. "I had been there for a couple of hours when the barmaid said there was a call for a Ron Hart". Two-and-a-half decades on from their first wedding, the couple, from Mold, north Wales, are finding life "a bit of a dream". "I keep thinking I'm going to wake up," said Mrs Hart. |
