Landslide kills 6 in western Nepal

KATHMANDU, Nepal -- Six members of a family were killed when a landslide swept away their house in western Nepal, local newspaper The Himalayan Times reported on Sunday.

At Sakhathaun of Bharta Village Development Committee in Kalikot district, some 400 km west of Nepali capital Kathmandu, the landslide occurred on Friday night.

Balu Shahi and her four sons died on the spot. Her daughter Pabindra died on the way to district hospital, according to the report.

The landslide also buried a few domestic animals.

Balu's husband Gorakh Bahadur said he survived the incident, as he had gone to his neighbor's home in the night.
