Passenger train collides with car in Hungary

Updated: 2008-08-15 09:14 BUDAPEST -- A passenger train collided with a car near Gyongyos, North Hungary, on Thursday afternoon, killing all the five people in the car. The Hungarian News Agency MTI reported that the accident happened when the car was attempting to cross the tracks at a point where there was no built-up road crossing, and the train engine ploughed into the car and carried it for several hundred meters. The report said all the victims were members of a family, two of them were adults, three of them teenage boys, and one of the five was still alive when emergency services arrived but died in the helicopter transporting him to the hospital. |
