NEW DELHI -- At least 13 people have been killed in heavy rains and flash floods in Indian southeast state Andhra Pradesh, officials said Saturday, according to the Indo- Asian News Service.

Thirteen people were killed in incidents of house collapse in state capital Hyderabad and other coastal districts as incessant rain since Friday night inundated dozens of residential areas and threw traffic out of gear.

With this, the death toll in heavy rains and flash floods since last week rose to 26.

The state capital recorded 13.6 cm rainfall Friday night, meteorological officials said. The heavy rains resulted in inundation of roads and residential areas, disrupting electricity and communication lines, the report said.
