HARARE  -- South African President Thabo Mbeki is to visit Zimbabwe on Wednesday for talks with his counterpart Robert Mugabe, Zimbabwean state media reported.

Quoting "reliable sources", the Herald newspaper said Mbeki would meet Mugabe ahead of the June 27 presidential run-off election.

"South African President Thabo Mbeki is expected to meet President Robert Mugabe in Bulawayo today to discuss the forthcoming presidential election run-off and the campaigns," the newspaper said.

"President Mugabe will travel to Bulawayo for the meeting after addressing rallies in Gwanda and Beitbridge."

But opposition MDC's spokesman Nelson Chamisa said: "We are not aware of any plans to meet with President Mbeki today."
