Pakistan party leader shot dead in southern city

ISLAMABAD - Tariq Khan, a leader of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), was shot dead in southern port city of Karachi, local TV channel reported Friday evening.

Tariq Khan was shot near Tariq road in Karachi and died after being shifted to a hospital, private Dawn TV said.

The TV channel quoted police as saying that Tariq Khan was driving when the motocyclist fired shots at his car.

No further details are available at the moment.

The PML-N, led by former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, is the second largest party in Pakistan's parliament.
