JAKARTA - A 5.6-magnitude earthquake rocked eastern Indonesia on Monday, no report of damage or casualties, the meteorology agency said here.

The quake jolted at 12:40 Jakarta time (0540 GMT) with epicenter at 85 kilometers off Saumlaki town of Maluku province and at 30 kilometers in depth, an official of the agency said.

Indonesia sits on a vulnerable quake-prone zone called "the Pacific Ring of Fire," where two continental plates meet and cause frequent seismic and volcanic movements.
