In the first incident at 9:50 pm Sunday, four men approached a car in which two women were sitting with a child and the groups exchanged words. One of the men then opened fire before his group fled on foot, according to Los Angeles County sheriff's Deputy Oscar Butao.

One woman was killed and the other was wounded, and the condition of the wounded woman was not available this morning, Butao said. The child was not injured.

The second fatal shooting occurred at 12:05 am, in which a man was shot dead at the scene, Butao said.

Authorities had not arrested any suspects in connection with the shootings, he said.

Police did not have information about whether the shootings were gang-related, or the motives for the shootings, he said.
