JAKARTA -- Five passengers of a jetliner that skidded off a runway on Indonesia's northern island of Batamon Monday were admitted to hospital, some with neck and head wounds.

One of the five left hospital later in the day after doctors said his wound was not serious.

The Boeing 737-400 with 169 passengers and six crews ran out of the Hang Nadim Airport's runway when it landed amid heavy storm, the leading news website Detikcom reported.

The plane owned by budget carrier Adam Air sustained serious damages in the right wing, landing gears and nose.
