SYDNEY -- More than 20,000 people went to Sydney's Hyde Park on Sunday for the city's biggest ever outdoor wine festival.

Earlier in the day, New South Wales Minister for State Development Ian Macdonald said 100 NSW wineries would showcase their wines in the northern section of Hyde Park as part of NSW wine week.

"Hyde Park will be transformed into a wine trail showcasing fine wines from Mudgee, Cowra, Bathurst, Orange, Western Plains, Gundagai, the Riverina, Canberra, New England, Hastings River, Hilltops, Hawkesbury,/Nepean, Shoalhaven coast, Southern Highlands and the Hunter," Ms Macdonald said.

There was a range of regional food produce stalls and live entertainment in the park in the center of the city. Many enjoyed tasting different kinds of wine and champagne in the sunshine.

NSW wine producers exported 496 million dollars (US$460) in wine last year, with the state accounting for 30 percent of Australia's wine industry.
