MOSCOW -- Russia and Iran will sign contracts worth up to 2.5 billion US dollars for the sale of 100 Tu-204 and Tu-214 medium-haul passenger airliners in 2009, RIA news agency reported Tuesday.

Russia's United Aircraft Building Corporation (UABC) inked a memorandum of intent last week with its Iranian client and delivery will begin in 2010, RIA said, citing a UABC spokesman.

UABC incorporates commercial and military aircraft makers including Ilyushin, Tupolev, Sukhoi, Antonov and Mikoyan, as well as companies involved in distribution, including Aviaexport.
