DHAKA - At least 41 people were killed and over 150 injured in separate road accidents in Bangladesh during the vacation of Muslims religious festival "Eid-ul-Azha," local newspaper The Daily Star reported Monday.

Seven people were killed in capital Dhaka and 34 people died in separate accidents in 9 districts across the country.

At least 12 people were killed and 45 injured in separate road accidents in northwestern district of Sirajganj, 110 km northwest of Dhaka.

"Eid-ul-Azha" (feast of sacrifice) is the second most important Muslim festival, which was celebrated last Friday.

Every year, scores of people die in road accidents during the Eid holidays, as millions of people left capital Dhaka by buses, trains and motor launches for their hometowns and villages to celebrate the Eid festival with their kith and kin.
