NEW DELHI -- About 10 soldiers and two civilians were killed Thursday after a roadside bomb exploded in the eastern Indian state of Chhattisgarh, police said.

Police blamed leftist rebels for the blast, which took place in Dantewada district of Chhattisgarh state.

The two slain civilians were a child and a driver, police said.
