Police and security staff in Shenzhen will work non-stop from Aug 5 to 25, in a bid to maintain public order and the security at the Universiade.

The daily work will be covered by double shifts, an official said during a mobilization meeting held by the Public Security Bureau Monday.

Two thirds of the security staff will be patroling streets, especially in crowded areas such as the commercial districts and cross roads.

About Shenzhen

Shenzhen is located at the southern tip of the Chinese mainland on the eastern bank of the mouth of the Pearl River and neighbors Hong Kong.

The brainchild of Deng Xiaoping, the country's first special economic zone was established here by the Chinese Government in 1980. It has been a touchstone for China's reform and opening-up policy since then.
