On July 29th, over 3000 reporters from more than 300 media agencies have registered for the coverage of the upcoming Universiade. In order to ensure the prompt transfer of games information and to create a convenient writing environment for the journalists, the Universiade news service team is now working diligently to turn these into reality.

Splendors of urban architecture, sketches of Universiade venues, and vigorous figures of athletes…all sorts of photographs uploaded by the official Universiade photo agency will be viewed by people from around the world. While the Xinhua Agency was in charge of the photo work of all large-scale sports events in China like Beijing Olympics and the Guangzhou Asian Games, this time, the official photo agency is undertaken by the Shenzhen’s local media, Shenzhen Press Group.

According to the head of the official photo agency Chen Wei, they have formed a professional team composed by 156 people who are highly qualified sports photographers from subsidiary newspapers of Shenzhen Press Group and outstanding photographers recommended by various photography associations in Shenzhen.

As a team existing for only several months, the photo agency's work is intense and heavy load. Since April, the agency has organized different training courses and participated in approximately 40 test events with a participation of around 2000 persons, achieving great success.

About Shenzhen

Shenzhen is located at the southern tip of the Chinese mainland on the eastern bank of the mouth of the Pearl River and neighbors Hong Kong.

The brainchild of Deng Xiaoping, the country's first special economic zone was established here by the Chinese Government in 1980. It has been a touchstone for China's reform and opening-up policy since then.
