Universiade torch relay to kick off on Aug 7 and 11

The Universiade Citywide Torch Relay will be held respectively on August 7th and August 11th in Shenzhen. Celebrities including famous Chinese pianist Lang Lang, champion of Winter Olympics speed skating Yang Yang and folk style singer Song Zuying will be attending the event on August 7th. To reward the online torch relay candidates for their participation and enthusiasm, sponsors will randomly select 10 torchbearers out of 750,000 online candidates at the end of July.

On August 7th the torch relay will be held in the downtown for the convenience of citizens, while the event on August 11th will be held near Universiade Village in Longgang, then the Organizing Committee will invite the representatives from different countries and region to participate in the relay.

In order to display the concept of "Making a Difference" and to create interaction with citizens, a carnival cruise including performances like floats, parades and skating will be seen along Binhai Road on August 7th.
