LUSAKA - Head coach of Zambia's representative in the Orange Champions League competition, Zanaco, has admitted that his team had put itself in an awkward position following a 1-0 narrow victory against Asec Mimosa of Ivory Coast in the first-round first leg played on Saturday, the Times of Zambia reported on Monday.

Wedson Nyirenda has confessed that the narrow home victory has put his charges to have a mammoth task in the second leg against the Ivorians in a fortnight.

"We knew Asec were a good team and we tried to approach them with caution. They must be happy with the margin with which they have lost. We have put ourselves in an awkward situation," Nyirenda was quoted as saying by the paper.

He said there would be no margin of error in Ivory Coast if the Zambian champions were to progress to the next round of the competition, adding that his team should have done better than the solitary win.

According to him, his players put up a below par performance against the Ivorian champions.

Striker Makundika Sakala scored the all important goal in the 75th minute to beat the Ivorians 1-0.
