BRASILIA - Every day that passes bring Vasco's soccer team even closer to working out a contract that would bring the renown forward, Edmundo, back to the team, said on Sunday Brazilian media.

In meeting with the team's administration and the player's lawyer, Luiz Roberto Leven Siano, the wrinkles were ironed out and a deal could materialize as soon as Wednesday.

The meeting principally took place so that Edmundo's lawyer could negotiate the payment that Vasco's still owes the player. The estimated value that the team is indebted to the player amounts to nearly 6 million U.S. dollars.

"Edmundo is very Vascinian. Both parties need to comply with their promises for things to work out.  However, the negotiations are in the works," stated Edmuno's lawyer.

After having been let go by the Palmeiras soccer club, the forward made public his desire to return to Vasco. Last Friday, the player attended a soccer party in which he wore a Vasco club jersey.

The return of Edmundo would be a giant monkey off the team's back. Vasco is still unsure about the future of their star, Leandro Amaral, and Edmundo would be a great diversion of emotions to fans and the administration of Vasco.
