7月10日上午，2014年苏州国际精英创业周在苏州博览中心隆重开幕，两千余名海内外高层次人才、专家学者、企业家、投融资专家齐聚一堂，共话创业、共商合作。
17日，“2014苏州国际精英创业周网络媒体行”活动正式启动，10余家境内外主流网络新闻媒体，深入采访，深层次解读苏州人才工作政策体系，挖掘本届精英周的亮点。
苏州市政府20日召开新闻发布会对外宣布，2014苏州国际精英创业周将于7月开幕。目前，2014创业周活动的各项筹备工作已全面展开。
一般应具有硕士以上学历，三年以上相关工作经历。参会项目达到国技先进水平且具备实施的法律保障。
2010年，苏州推出“姑苏人才计划”，计划5年内投入30亿元，在科技创新、重点产业以及文化、教育、卫生、旅游等八大领域
重点产业和新兴产业领域企业引进的紧缺人才，5年内，博士研究生给予10万元的补贴，硕士研究生给予5万元的补贴。
