The Beijing Economic-Technological Development Area (BDA) signed contracts worth 10.68 billion yuan ($1.67 billion) at the 21st China Beijing International High-tech Expo (CHITEC) on May 18, according to local media.

The figure accounted for nearly 70 percent of the contracts reached on that day.

The signed projects included an automobile e-commerce platform, a cell biopharmaceutical production base, an unmanned system development center, and an interactive intelligent terminal industry base.

BDA, as the development area mentioned in Beijing’s growth plan of “three science parks and one development area”, is looking for high-precision industries. It has welcomed the five leading industries of high-end automobiles, information technology bio-pharmaceuticals, robotics and intelligent manufacturing, and the internet.

The proportion of high-tech industrial output to total industrial output is at the leading level in the country.

In the first quarter of 2018, BDA achieved a GDP of 37.08 billion yuan.

CHITEC is a major national high-tech expo held each May in Beijing. It is approved by the State Council, and integrates exhibitions, forums and business talks.
