E-town to host pan-semiconductor industry expo

Updated : 2017-04-17

Beijing Economic-Technological Development Area (E-town) is to host the 2017 Beijing International Pan-Semiconductor Industry Expo from Aug 30, aiming to boost international cooperation and development in the pan-semiconductor industry.

Running until Sept 2, it is China’s first industry expo focusing on pan-semiconductors.

China had a relatively late start in developing its pan-semiconductor industry, yet has large demand for products in related fields. The country’s pan-semiconductor industry is currently facing issues such as a lack of core technology and innovation, as well as struggling to realize its industrial scale.

The expo will feature the latest achievements in areas of artificial intelligence, big data and internet of things (IoT), as well as hold discussions on the future direction of the industry and a seminar on micro-electronics.

Beijing is the heartland of China’s pan-semiconductor industry, and E-town is one of the leading forces boosting economic development in the city. It has attracted leading companies in the pan-semiconductor industry including SMIC, BOE and NAURA, and has become a key area for developing the integrated circuit (IC) industry.

E-town is sparing no efforts to develop itself into a national-level demonstration area as part of the Made in China 2025 strategy in 2017. The area is expected to host four 100 million-yuan industry clusters and build 20 international-level technology innovation platforms in the near future. The expo will serve as one of the 20 platforms the area has committed to develop this year.
