Children’s plays enjoy lower prices

Updated : 2016-01-26

On January 20, Bureau of Culture in Beijing issued new performance subsidies.

The regulation covers performance venues with less than 3000 seats in the subsidy project, including small theaters with less than 500 seats. It also increases the number of tickets priced lower than 100 yuan for childrens’ plays, so small theaters and child audiences are the biggest beneficiaries.

By providing subsidies for low-price tickets, the new policy leads theaters to lower their ticket prices and increase the proportion of cheap tickets. The subsidy covers small theaters with less than 500 seats, which means that the popular small theaters in Beijing will have much lower ticket prices.

The new regulation also benefit child audiences by increasing the proportion of tickets below 100 yuan from 30 percent to 40 percent for children’s plays.
