Beijing environmental engineering company doing well overseas

Updated : 2015-02-02

Beijing's Longyuan Environmental Engineering Co is starting work on a desulfurization project in Zetes, Turkey, with the design work on schedule, and two other desulfurization contracts from 2014 – a seawater desulfurization project at a power plant in Sihanoukville, Cambodia and another one in Banten, Indonesia -- with a total installed capacity of 2,395,000 kW.

Beijing Longyuan, which is in Beijing's Economic Technological Development Area, or E-town, got 42 percent of its income last year from overseas work.

After the company had its first success with its seawater desulfurization technology in 1999, at the Mawan Power Plant No. 4, in Macao, it began internationalizing its core desulfurization equipment so that it now accounts for 88 percent of the whole domestic market sales and gives it a monopoly on the domestic seawater desulfurization business.

It has managed to keep pace with environmental protection trends and has seen a breakthrough in sulfur-dioxide emission reductions to 50-milligram/sq-m or less. Back in June 2013, it was able to increase its absorption-tower seawater fuel gas desulfurization efficiency at Mawan Power Plant No.5 in Macao, where the efficiency and sulfur concentration at that time already met Nation Energy Bureau standards for 2014.
