The "Warm Spring - Hubei couplet calligraphy invitational exhibition", jointly organized by the Hubei Museum of Art and Hubei Provincial Calligraphers Association, will be held from Jan 15 to Feb 23 in Wuhan, capital of Hubei.

Calligraphers of Hubei province will write spring couplets in front of visitors on the first day of the exhibition and will also offer them as gifts to a lucky few.

This exhibition aims to highlight couplet calligraphy, enrich the general public’s cultural life, showcase the development of calligraphy in Hubei province and also to celebrate the Spring Festival.

It will also demonstrate the essence of the Chinese dream in the form of calligraphy so as to motivate the public to chase and realize their dreams, and to inspire people to cherish art and life.

In Chinese poetry, a couplet, also called antithetical couplet, refers to a pair of lines of poetry which adhere to certain rules, and are sometimes seen on the sides of doors leading to homes or as scrolls inside the homes.

A popular type of couplet is the spring couplet used as a decoration during the Spring Festival that expresses happy and hopeful thoughts for the coming year.
