Zhusuan, the Chinese traditional method of calculations using the abacus, has been added to the list of Intangible Cultural Heritage established by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization on Dec.4. This is China’s 30th World Intangible Cultural Heritage.

The abacus is an ancient calculating tool with a history of more than 1,800 years. It is known as a great invention from ancient China and is also called “the oldest calculator in the world”.
