About Tsingtao Beer

The predecessor of Tsingtao Brewery Co Ltd is Nordic Brewery Co Ltd, which was founded by German and British settlers in the city of Qingdao in August 1903. With such a long history of beer brewing, Tsingtao Brewery was selected as the official sponsor of the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games. It now ranks among Fortune 500 companies. With a brand valued at more than 63.17 billion yuan ($10.31 billion), it leads China's beer industry according to the World Brand Lab. Qingdao was liberated on June 2, 1949. The Nordic Brewery was taken over by the People's Government of Qingdao and renamed the State-Owned Tsingtao Brewery.

Tsingtao Brewery Co Ltd was established and entered the international capital market in 1993. It was the first Chinese joint-stock limited company to be listed in Hong Kong and Shanghai at the same time.

In June and July 2012, Tsingtao hit its single-month sales record of 1 million kiloliters, making it China's strongest beer company in terms of brand value and profitability.

Tsingtao Brewery has taken almost all the gold awards in beer quality contests held in China since 1949, and it has also won many gold awards on the international stage. In 2006, Tsingtao Brewery ranked 68th on the list of the World's 200 Most Reputable Companies compiled by Forbes magazine. It was awarded Brand of the Year at the Asia Brand Ceremony in 2007. Tsingtao was twice selected to be on the list of the Top 10 Chinese Global Brands by Financial Times in both 2005 and 2008. Tsingtao Brewery won the Special Award of Corporate Governance-Annual Prize for Board of Directors by the Shanghai Stock Exchange in 2009. In 2010, Tsingtao won the Green Gold Environment Award, International Carbon Gold Award and the China Best Employer 2010 award.

In 2011, it was listed among the Top 100 China CSR Companies and won the 10-year Achievement Award for the Most Respected Enterprises in China. It also won the Best Corporate Citizenship award. In 2012, it was listed into the Top 100 China Green Companies for the fourth time, made the list of Most Admired Companies by Fortune magazine for the seventh time, and again was recognized as a Most Respected Company.

Tsingtao, a beer icon

Tsingtao Brewery's century of history and worldwide reputation are the backbone of the Qingdao International Beer Festival.

Though the old-fashioned spelling of Tsingtao differs from the present-day rendering, Qingdao, the beer is sometimes a much more recognized icon than the city itself.

According to the Barth Report, Tsingtao is the sixth-largest brewery worldwide in terms of production in 2012. Tsingtao Beer is sold in more than 80 countries and regions, including the United States, Canada, Britain, France, Germany, Italy, Australia, South Korea, Hong Kong and Macau.

As of the end of 2012, Tsingtao Brewery owned 59 breweries in 20 provinces and regions in China. According to the list of the Top 500 Most Valuable Chinese Brands 2012, Tsingtao Brewery, valued at nearly 63.17 billion yuan ($10.31 billion), again ranked first among Chinese beer brands.
