The promotion meeting of the ninth China-Northeast Asia Expo was held in Guangdong Hotel in the city of Guangzhou, Guangdong province, on April 2, when staff in charge of the expo secretariat gave a specific introduction to the event.

The promotion event was launched by the secretariat of the expo and the Jilin provincial government office in Guangzhou. More than 60 people were on hand at the event, including representatives from Guangdong and Guangzhou's industry and commerce authorities, commerce chambers and enterprises, as well as provincial or regional government offices in Guangzhou.

Officials from the Jilin Provincial Commerce Department and Jilin Economic and Technical Cooperation Bureau, the organizers of the expo, elaborated on trade and cooperation development between Jilin and Northeast Asia, as well as activities to happen at the expo. The attendees expressed their intention to participate in the expo with more delegates, and also delivered their ideas on how to solve some existing problems.

Guangdong, or the Pearl River Delta area, has set the pace in China's foreign trade in recent decades. Northeast China, such as Jilin, has different resources and industries from the Pearl River Delta area, so the two areas are believed to work well together in a complementary way, with the expo offering a good chance for collaboration.

The cities of Guangzhou, Shenzhen and Zhongshan sent delegations to the previous expos to display their products, projects, investment environment and policies to the rest of the world.

In 2012, the China Jilin Northeast Asia Investment and Trade Expo was renamed the China-Northeast Asia Expo to fit its role as a platform for China to better communicate and cooperate with Northeast Asian countries in the fields of politics, economy, trade and culture.

The ninth China-Northeast Asia Expo will take place in the Changchun International Convention and Exhibition Center in Jilin from Sept 6-11, with a theme of promoting strategic cooperation and deep communication. Compared with previous sessions, the expo this year will be larger and more elaborate to provide better service.

The preparatory work is now under way. Increasing numbers of business people have signed up for the event, especially after its press conference in Beijing on April 2. Jilin's investment promotion website and the expo's official website have announced major projects that were selected by the secretariat.
