Xingeng Villa
—former site of the headquarters and political department of the Fourth Army of the Red Army
The Xingeng Villa is located at Chengguan of Changting county, in east-west direciton. The villa used to serve as the residence of Lu Zelin, chairman of the Chamber of Commerce. On March 14, 1929, the 18 year of the Republic of China, the headquarters and political department of the Fourth Army of the Red Army were settled at the site. Mao Zedong, Zhu De and Lu Yi have convened the elarged meeting of the front committee of the Fourth Army of the Red Army here.
The site has a two-storey civil-structured building, covering an area of 532 square meters. The site includes the gate, courtyard, gateway, open yard, hall, backyard and another open yard from exterior to inside. The open yard in front of the hall has four symmetric rooms on both sides, with two rooms on each side of the main hall and back hall. Mao Zedong and Zhu De, two former leaders of the Red Army, lived in the rooms in the main hall. There are three rooms upstairs in the back hall.
In 1974, the Fujian Provincial Culture Department subsidized the rennovation of the site. In 1988, the State Council listed the site as one of the third batch of the Key National Cultural Heritage Protection Units.
