The Ganzi Tibetan autonomous prefecture held a promotion conference on Sept 26 to attract development investment. The conference, as well as a contract signing ceremony, was part of the 13th Western China International Fair in Chengdu, Sichuan province.
Hu Changsheng, municipal Party secretary of the autonomous prefecture, introduced Ganzi's abundant water, forest, mineral storage and tourism resources.
Ganzi has been accelerating infrastructure construction due to support from China's go-west campaign. As many as 25 major capital attraction programs were introduced at the conference, covering areas such as tourism, agriculture, animal husbandry, eco-pharmaceuticals, ethnic culture and industrial zones.
Fifteen project contracts were signed between investors and seven county governments in Ganzi at the conference.
"Ganzi's priority is transportation construction. Twenty-five highway construction programs will begin this year. In addition, Daocheng Yading Airport will be ready for the public in May 2013," said Ge Ning, vice-governor of the prefecture.
This year's conference provided 114 investment programs with a total capital of 19.92 billion yuan ($3.16 billion). About 200 delegates from nine commerce chambers in Tianjin, Sichuan, Zhejiang, Fujian, Shaanxi, Guangdong, Hunan, Qinghai and Jiangsu took part in the event.
