Chengdu holds art exhibition to welcome China Int'l Friendship Cities Conference

Chengdu city officials and sister city representatives cut the ribbon to start the exhibition.

A painting and photo exhibition about Chengdu and its international sister cities opened in Chengdu, capital of Sichuan province, on Sept 11, one day before the 2012 China International Friendship Cities Conference.

The exhibition, organized by Chengdu's Foreign Affairs Office and the Federation of Literature and Art Circles, aims to promote cultural and art exchanges between Chengdu and its sister cities.

This exhibition has 93 works in total, including 47 oil paintings, traditional Chinese paintings and fine brushwork paintings; 40 photos from 20 of Chengdu's sister cities; and six paintings made by young Chengdu artists under the guidance of distinguished artists from Chengdu's sister cities.

The artwork was a part of a three-month project in which 22 artists from Chengdu and its sister cities visited one another's cities to create works which showcase their landscapes and cultures.
