China's central financial channel holds a financial forum in Chengdu, capital of Sichuan province.

The financial channel of China Central Television, CCTV-2, and the Information Office of the Chengdu Municipal People's Government jointly held a financial forum in Chengdu, capital of Sichuan province on Sept 5.

The forum, themed "The Global Power of China's Industry", invited a local government official and executives from Intel China, Lenovo, Maersk and the New Hope Group to discuss how Chengdu and West China will be able to manage global industrial restructuring to enhance China's industrial power.

This is the first time CCTV's financial forum was held in West China. The forum, which is considered preparation for the 2012 Chengdu Fortune Global Forum, introduces the city's comparative advantages in the IT industry.

While multinational enterprises have begun to move their manufacturing plants away from East China due to rising costs, Chengdu in West China has grabbed the world's attention.

In the first half of 2012, the added value of this provincial city's industrial enterprises ran ahead of China's 15 vice-provincial cities.

According to the forum, 20 percent of computers and 70 percent of iPads worldwide are made in Chengdu, and 50 percent of notebook computer chips are tested in the city.

To date, Chengdu has gathered about 1,400 IT enterprises, including world famous companies such as Intel, Texas Instruments, Foxconn and Dell.
