Fifty member of a bagpiping band, dressed in traditional costumes from the 18th century, played at the Mutianyu section of the Great Wall in Beijing Sunday, marking the end of a week of activities that the Spanish region of Galicia celebrated at the World Expo in Shanghai.
The bagpipers, members of the Royal Band of Bagpipers of the city of Ourense, north of Spain, are all former students of the Provincial School of Bagpipers, which has around 15,000 students. They played traditional Spanish and Galician songs and also played adapted versions of the Chinese "Jasmine Flower" at the end of the show.
Beijing was the third stop of their trip. At the first leg, the band played at the Spain Pavilion Square, at the Expo, from May 17 to 19, and then travelled to Xi'an and played at the symbolic Terracotta Warrior Museum on May 20.
