Collections of the Uffizi gallery which cover landscape, life and portrait paintings are on show from March 10th to June 6th in Shanghai Museum.

Eighty-two western painting art pieces from the 15th century to the 20th century collected in Uffizi gallery were on display. The paintings included masterpieces painted by Sandro Botticelli of Florence School, Jacopo Robusti Tintoretto (1518—1594) of Venice School and Tiziano Vecellio (1490-1576).

"These paintings representing the Western art are valuable. We brought best paintings to China. They are like poems, the painted poems," Antonio Natali, the curator of Uffizi gallery said.

The show is organized by Uffizi gallery and Shanghai Museum.

This show is one of the six exhibitions expected to be held in Shanghai Museum this year. Liaoning Museum is the next stop for the show, Chen Xiejun, curator of Shanghai Museum introduced.

Riccardo Sessa, Italian ambassador in China attended the opening ceremony and praised the painting show plays an important role in enhancing the cultural communication between China and Italy.
