1.White Horse Temple

Located between the Luo River and Mang Hill, White Horse Temple is 12km away from Luoyang city. Constructed in the Eastern Han Dynasty (AD 25-220) when Buddhism began to spread, the temple is considered to be the first official Buddhist temple.

The statue of the white horse. There is a legend of the temple’s name. Because of the Emperor’ s dream, two Indian monks and their Buddhist scriptures were brought to China by two white horses.
