1. City Wall

Built in 1370 during the Ming dynasty (1368-1644), the 12m-high ancient City Wall is one of the largest ancient military defensive systems in the world. Constant restoration work has kept it in good shape, and it can be approached through several gates. The South Gate is the largest and most accessible one. Climb up the flight of high stone steps and walk or cycle along the wall, taking in sweeping views of the simultaneously ancient and modern city.
